That Was November

November was a challenging month but I good one. I've noticed Seasonal Affective Disorder kicking in but using my daylight lamp since mid-October, taking vitamin D and doing gentle workouts and stretching three times a week has taken the edge off. This time last year I felt very low in comparison, so I really need to keep up the good work.

Something else that has helped with SAD is being more open with friends and my work team about it, and just about my thoughts and feelings in general. I've always leaned towards keeping myself to myself and focussing on other people in conversations, partly to deflect attention from any problems I'm dealing with. In Spring though I realised that by doing this I do my friends a disservice; I find it an honour to help a friend and I was denying friends the chance to do the same in return, so I've been trying to change the habit of a lifetime and be more open and, well, vulnerable with the people I'm close to.

We had a fright at the end of November when Lars went missing for 14 hours and turned up at 1am muddy, hungry and purring like mad. I was terrified that he'd been mistreated, run over or had got accidentally locked in a garage or shed. We're considering getting a tracker to fit to a collar as he's an adventurous kitty and was gone for longer than usual today too. When he returned he was covered in dust and grit and wired with anxiety, peering around every corner with wide, scared eyes as he walked carefully around the house.

November was a month of snow and fabulous skies. The pictures speak for themselves.

It was also a month of my cats getting more snuggle with each other and playing more with one another as they've gone out less due to the cold.

I was fortunate enough to end the month with a trip to Derby with my good friend from the olden days, Lucy. We went to Derby Gaol, saw the Christmas lights switch on, toured the charity shops and shared a bottle of wine in our favourite pub, The Old Bell.
