In honour of trying to rush less and do more, I went for a long walk on a non-working day in late September and enjoyed taking in all the seasonal changes on the way.
It was a the first frosty morning I've seen this Autumn.
The River Aire was high but smooth above the wide weir in Roberts Park in Saltaire.
I stopped frequently to take in so many beautiful signs of the season, like this fast flowing brook running into the Aire.
Hedgerows full of fruit, ready to be harvested by the mice of Brambly Hedge.
And these Michaelmas daisies that was covered in butterflies and bees, I want to try to remember to plant some next year.
It was a magical day off and it filled my cup with beauty and appreciation. That kind of thing gives me a real boost and I need to keep it going as the weather turns, because I know it makes me feel more like me than when I stay indoors for days at a time. It's too easy to forget the beauty outside in Winter when from a window everything looks grey, but it's still there, quiet and subtle.
